THE PRIVILEGE OF PARTNERSHIP

God gives all of us the great privilege of partnering with Him in what He’s doing in the world. East White Oak Bible Church is committed to reaching those who are far from God, unleashing compassion into a broken world, and creating worshipers who are being nurtured toward maturity in Christ. Donations are used for the support of local ministries, the expenses of the church, benevolence needs, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

“But just as you excel in everything –- in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this grace of giving”   2 Corinthians 8:7 (NIV)

Making the Most of Your Giving

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25)  It’s a Bible quotation with which most of us are familiar.

Stewardship of the resources entrusted to us is something we want to do well.  One means of effective stewardship is having an intentional efficient plan for making charitable gifts.

Often people are unaware that there are varieties of ways to give, some with advantages for both the donor and the charity.

Sometimes a little advice from a planned giving professional can increase the impact of a donor’s gift.  Thoughtful intentional planned giving is not only for the uber-wealthy.  It’s for everyone.

This summary highlights a few ways that people have made the most of their desire to give effectively.  Your generosity can make a difference during your lifetime and beyond.

  • Bequest in Your Will – A bequest can be a specific amount or a particular asset or a percentage of your estate. A Residual Bequest designates the amount left in the estate to the church after all other distributions have been made.
  • Charitable IRA Rollover – Up to $100,000 of the donor’s required minimum distribution can be transferred to the church, tax-free to the donor.
  • Gift of Appreciated Securities – A donor can transfer stock or mutual funds to the church’s brokerage account. The donor avoids capital gains taxes, receives an income tax reduction, and the church benefits from the sale of the shares tax-free.
  • Life Insurance – Donors can designate the church as a policy beneficiary.

Many other planned giving options are available to suit a wide range of circumstances and giving goals.

If you would like to find out more about any of these ways of expressing your generosity, then you are encouraged to seek the advice of an attorney and/or investment advisor.  If you don’t have a relationship with either of these types of planned giving professionals contact the church office and recommendations can be provided.
