Gain a better understanding of the order of biblical events and the historic context in which they unfolded.

Each year East White Oak offers a new Bible reading plan to our church family.

NOTE FROM PASTOR SCOTT

“This year’s recommended program is called The One Year Chronological Bible. It is a reading program presented by Tyndale House Publishers. This publisher produced the New Living Translation. We suggest that you try out the New Living Translation this year, but please note that there is no obligation to do so! Feel free to use your usual version if you wish. And if you like a Bible reading program that you’ve done in the past, feel free to keep using that. However, I think that just trying different ways of reading the Bible—and even a different version now and then—has a way of allowing insights from the Bible to appear that might not otherwise.”

“If you are not in the habit of regular Bible reading, please join us on this great 2026 adventure!” — Pastor Scott

Consider reading in the New Living Translation!

Reading from a different translation can often generate new thoughts about familiar passages of Scripture. The New Living Translation attempts to translate entire thoughts (rather than just words) into natural, everyday English.

TWO WAYS TO FOLLOW THIS READING PROGRAM

Read on the YouVersion Bible App

Download the Bible App and select The One Year Chronological Bible. Change the Bible version to the New Living Translation. You may read directly from the app each day, or use the audio feature to listen on your phone.

Read a Printed Bible

Tyndale offers a One Year Chronological Bible where the Bible passages are rearranged according to chronology. If you choose to purchase a chronological Bible, you’ll be able to read through the plan easily, without flipping back and forth between different books of the Bible. If you’d prefer to read from your own Bible, you can download this checklist.
